A Ghostly Night
Words and Music By: Lenore Hetrick
Adapted By: Terry Kluytmans

Oh! Did you see?
What could it be?
Hiding behind the old maple tree!
Up in the sky,
Shadows float by,
Making the eeriest, mournful cry!
It's Hallowe'en! It's Hallowe'en!
This is the night ghosts will be seen!
It's Hallowe'en! It's Hallowe'en!
This is the night ghosts will be seen!

Oh, dear! Oh, dear!
Witches I hear,
Coming to do their black deeds, I fear!
See them ride by,
Flying so high,
Perched on their broomsticks, I hear them cry:
"It's Hallowe'en! It's Hallowe'en!
This is the night ghosts will be seen!
It's Hallowe'en! It's Hallowe'en!
This is the night ghosts will be seen!"

Dark Halloween

'Twas very dark on Hallowe'en,
With not a speck of light;
The clouds had just passed o'er the moon,
And silent was the night.
The clouds had just passed o'er the moon,
And silent was the night.

We waited in a lonely grove
And then a ghost went by;
We were too scared to run away,
And much too old to cry;
We were too scared to run away,
And much too old to cry.

It had a wide and flaming mouth,
Its eyes were glowing too;
If you had seen it, I am sure,
It would have frightened you!
If you had seen it, I am sure,
It would have frightened you!

But then the glowing light went dim,
And ev'rybody said
That it was only Christopher
With such a pumpkin head!
That it was only Christopher,
With such a pumpkin head!

Funny Halloween

Hallowe'en! Hallowe'en!
Oh, what funny things are seen!
Witches' hats, coal black cats,
Broomstick riders, bats and rats!

Hallowe'en! Hallowe'en!
Jack-o-Lanterns light the scene.
Costumes queer, shrieks of fear,
Strangest night in all the year!

Halloween is Coming Soon

Hallowe'en is coming soon,
Pumpkins we must buy.
Make a Jack-o'Lantern,
Bake a pumpkin pie.

Hallowe'en is coming soon,
Feel it in the air.
Witches ride on broomsticks,
Ghosts hide ev'rywhere.

Hallowe'en is coming soon,
Goblins chasing you!
As you round the corner,
One of them says, "Boo!"

Halloween Night

When autumn comes
And the days of crisp October
Then comes a night
Weird things are seen;
Witches on broomsticks,
And glowing Jack-o'lanterns,
Peer through the windows --
Hallowe'en!

Then boys and girls
Gather round the fire a-glowing,
Faces are painted
Bright blue and green
Apples are bobbing,
And gypsies telling fortunes,
Fun and myst'ry,
Hallowe'en!

песни halloween

It's Halloween
It's Hallowe'en,
The lamp is lit,
And 'round the fire
Is where we sit,
A-telling ghost tales
Bit by bit,
'Til somebody says "Shhhhhhh!"

What's that a-peeping
'Round the kitchen door?
What's that a-creeping
'Cross the bedroom floor?
What's that a-sweeping
Down the corridor?
Oooooh! It's a ghost!

We will not go
To bed 'til morn,
We're drinking cocoa,
Popping corn,
And laughing 'til our
Sides are torn,
'Til somebody says "Shhhhhhh!"

What's that a-peeping
'Round the kitchen door?
What's that a-creeping
'Cross the bedroom floor?
What's that a-sweeping
Down the corridor?
Oooooh! It's a ghost!

The doorbell rings,
A witch I see,
And with her, black cats,
One, two, three,
And one of them says
"Boo!" to me,
'Til somebody says "Shhhhhhh!"

What's that a-peeping
'Round the kitchen door?
What's that a-creeping
'Cross the bedroom floor?
What's that a-sweeping
Down the corridor?
Oooooh! It's a ghost!

Little Goblin
This fat little goblin,
A notable sinner,
Stole pumpkins daily,
For breakfast and dinner.

The farmer got angry
And stormed down the lane;
"That goblin's been after
My pumpkins again!"

That plump little goblin,
He laughed, "Ha! Ha! Ha!
Before he can catch me,
He'll have to run far!"

Oh, fat little goblin,
I ask but one thing:
Please save me a pumpkin
For my Hallowe'en!

October Brings Us Hallowe'en
October brings us Hallowe'en,
A spooky time, it's true,
When Jack-O'Lantern's flaming eyes
Seem like they're watching you!

The black cat's howling at the moon,
A witch goes flying by;
And in the distance you can hear
A goblin's mournful cry.

October brings us Hallowe'en,
A spooky time, it's true,
Be careful or, before you know,
A ghost will scare you... BOO!

****

On Hallowe'en
Witches on broomsticks
Ride the air;
Ghosts could be lurking
Anywhere;
You say you are brave and
Do not care,
But on Hallowe'en,
My friend, beware!

песни halloween на английском

The Adams Family
They're creepy and they're kooky,
mysterious and spooky,
They're all together ooky,
The Addams Family

Their house is a museum,
when people come to see 'em
They really are a screa-um
The Addams Family

(spoken: Neat, sweet, petit!)

So get a witch's shawl on,
A broomstick you can crawl on.
We're going to make a call on
The Addams Family

The Pumpkin I'm Saving For Me

Oh, out in the garden
Four pumpkins I found;
They were bright orange pumpkins
That lay on the ground.

I gave away three,
But now as you see,
The pumpkin that's left
I am saving for me.

I'll carve out a mouth,
And a nose and two eyes.
And when you come to visit
You'll have a surprise;

Perched high on the wall,
(I hope it won't fall!)
You'll see that my pumpkin's
The best one of all.

The Witches' Wood

There was a wood, a witches' wood,
All the trees therein were pale;
They bore no branches green and good
But as it were a gray nun's veil.

They talked and chattered in the wind
From morning dawn to set of sun,
Like men and women that have sinned,
Whose thousand evil tongues are one.

Their roots were like the hands of men,
Grown hard and brown with clutching gold,
Their foliage women's tresses
When the hair is withered, thin and old.

There never did a sweet bird sing.
For happy love about his nest.
The clustered bats on evil wing
Each hollow trunk and bough possessed.

And in the midst a pool there lay
Of water white, as thou' a scare
Had frightened off the eye of day
And kept the Moon reflected there.

The Night of Hallow E'en
When the birds are sleepy,
And the moonlight's creepy,
And the night is cold and still,
When the pale stars glimmer,

And the waters shimmer,
And the shadows hide the hill;
When the owl is calling,
And the leaves are falling,

In the crisp October air,
When the tall trees shiv'rin',
Sets your knees a-quiv'rin',
And you wish you weren't there.

Oh, it's just the night
For the wind to sigh,
For the bats to fly,
And the cats to cry,

And the tall pale ghosts
Keep their watch from high,
Where they faintly can be seen;
Oh, it's just the night

When the witches ride,
And the demons hide,
And the goblins glide,
And the bugaboos
Are close beside,
The night of Hallow E'en.

When the lonely cricket,
In a nearby thicket,
Sings a mournful sort of tune,
When the night birds flutter,
And the low winds mutter,

That a storm is coming soon;
When your heart beats quickly,
And your skin feels prickly,
If alone you have to roam,
And you think you'll hurry

'Cause the folks might worry,
And you'd rather be at home.
Oh, it's just the night
For the wind to sigh,
For the bats to fly,

And the cats to cry,
And the tall pale ghosts
Keep their watch from high,
Where they faintly can be seen;
Oh, it's just the night

When the witches ride,
And the demons hide,
And the goblins glide,
And the bugaboos
Are close beside,
The night of Hallow E'en.

Three Little Witches

One little, two little,
Three little witches
Flying over haystacks,
Soaring over ditches.
One little, two little,
Three little witches --
Happy Halloween!

One little, two little,
Three little witches
Flew o'er the fence and
Tore their britches,
Sewed them up with
Sixty stitches --
Happy Halloween!

We're the Jack-O'Lanterns

Up and down the cornfield,
Goblins you will see.
Creatures with the strangest eyes
You will try to flee!

We're the Jack-o'Lanterns!
Fiercest ever seen!
We don't care
Who we scare
On dark Hallowe'en!

And when in our cornfield
Little friends we see,
Then we chuckle with delight,
Pleased as we can be!
For we know we'll nab them
In a hurried flight!
Off we'll fly,
With a cry,
"Come with us tonight!"

Up and down the cornfield,
Goblins you will see.
Creatures with the strangest eyes
You will try to flee!

We're the Jack-o'Lanterns!
Fiercest ever seen!
We don't care
Who we scare
On dark Hallowe'en!
